The African Centre of Meteorological Applications for Development (ACMAD) in the project Capacity Building Institutions in charge of the African Climate (ISACIP) and in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the Meteorological Services National Hydrological and (NMHSs) and their partners, organized the fourth forum of seasonal climate forecasts in North Africa in conjunction with the third forum of seasonal forecasting in the Mediterranean (PRESANORD-04/MEDCOF-03). The forum is organized as to facilitate the implementation of the sub-regional strategy for disaster management which includes the integration of climate information in the best monitoring systems and early warning. The PRESANORD-04/MEDCOF-03 takes place in Cairo - Egypt under the theme: "Seasonal Climate Prediction: Services Climate Risk Management in the areas of agriculture, water, tourism and health" in support the implementation of the Global Framework for Climate Services and carry out the activities of Regional Climate Centres WMO in Africa. The PRESANORD-04/MEDCOF-03 is supported ISACIP project funded by the African Development Bank (ADB) through the Centre ACMAD

The objectives of the forum are to promote the exchange of knowledge between experts and users of climate information and climate services, generate consensus seasonal climate forecasts valid from February to April 2013 in North Africa and facilitate their applications to risk management. In addition, the forum will facilitate the collection of information on experiences and lessons learned from the use of seasonal forecasts in 2012, will discuss the impacts and consequences of consensus seasonal forecast valid from February to April 2013 and then formulate the strategies, practices and actions the management of risks and opportunities in the socio-economic and environmental indicators.

Program

PRESANORD-04/MEDCOF-03 the program has two components:
A pre-forum 3 days of 28 to 30 January 2013 dedicated to the training of national experts from North Africa and the production of seasonal forecasts consensual;
-A forum for two days from January 31 to February 1, 2013 for the assessment of impacts and consequences of seasonal forecasts developed, identification of strategies, practices and actions for the answer and finally facilitate the communication of forecasts and other climate information to better use.
